INDIAN CLASSICAL LITERATURE BY CS

 The Vedas: 

The oldest texts in Sanskrit, consisting of religious hymns, rituals, and philosophical teachings. The Rigveda is the most ancient of the four Vedas.

 Mahabharata:

 An epic narrative attributed to sage Vyasa, the Mahabharata is a complex and sprawling epic that explores the conflicts between two families, the Pandavas and the Kauravas. It contains the Bhagavad Gita, a philosophical discourse on duty and righteousness.

 Ramayana: 

Another epic attributed to sage Valmiki, the Ramayana tells the story of Prince Rama's quest to rescue his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana. It highlights moral and ethical values and is revered as a sacred text in Hinduism.

Puranas:

 A collection of ancient Hindu texts that contain narratives about gods, goddesses, and various legends. The eighteen major Puranas include the Vishnu Purana, Shiva Purana, and Devi Bhagavata Purana.

 Arthashastra:

 Written by Chanakya (also known as Kautilya or Vishnugupta), the Arthashastra is an ancient treatise on statecraft, economics, and governance. It provides insights into political strategies, administration, and diplomacy.

 Kamasutra: 

Authored by Vatsyayana, the Kamasutra is a treatise on the art of love, relationships, and sensual pleasure. It provides guidance on sexual behavior, courtship, and marriage, along with broader insights into human nature. 

Tirukkural: 

Written by the Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, Tirukkural is a classic Tamil text consisting of 1,330 couplets. It covers various aspects of life, including ethics, morality, love, and governance, offering practical guidance for a righteous life.

 Abhijnanasakuntalam: 

A Sanskrit play by Kalidasa, Abhijnanasakuntalam (The Recognition of Shakuntala) is considered one of the greatest works of classical Indian literature. It tells the story of King Dushyanta and the maiden Shakuntala, exploring themes of love, separation, and reunion.

  Shrimad Bhagavatam: 

Also known as the Bhagavata Purana, it is a significant text in Vaishnavism that presents stories of Lord Krishna's divine activities, his incarnations, and teachings. It emphasizes devotion and spiritual wisdom.

  Thirukural:

 Authored by the Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, Thirukural is a renowned Tamil literary work consisting of 1,330 couplets. It covers various aspects of life, including ethics, love, politics, and spirituality, offering valuable insights and guidance.
